First we talked about the immune system whihch we split into four categories:
Definitions of:
- antigens: A structure or molecule that is foreign to our body. We named a few examples:
- protein from another organism
- virus
- bacteria
- pollen
- antibody: protein that binds antigens with high specificity
- macrophages: cells that recognize an antigen-antibody complex and "eats" it
- applications of antibodies:
- cancer therapy
- vaccination
- diagnostics: detection of proteins
Homework:
Decribe on a molecular basis, how the pregnancy test works.
